Ahmedabad, Sep 16 (SocialNews.XYZ) Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday urged citizens to light an ‘Aashirwad no Divo’ at 7 p.m. on Thursday, as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ being organised to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday and 25 years of public service.
Patel made the appeal at a ‘Gau-Matrushakti Sanskriti Namo Vandan’ and women’s empowerment programme organised by the Sitavan Gir Gaushala Parivar in Ahmedabad on the eve of PM Modi’s birthday.
The statewide ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ is scheduled to begin on September 17. The ‘Aashirwad no Divo’ programme at 7 p.m. is among the activities planned as part of the campaign.
The Chief Minister said PM Modi would complete 25 years of dedicated public service and commitment to the nation on October 7.
"The service campaign is being organised to mark this journey, with the Gau Daan and Seva Parv beginning in Ahmedabad ahead of the statewide programme," he said.
At the event, healthy indigenous Gir cows were given to 76 needy women from tribal, widow, backward and economically weaker communities.
The initiative was described as an effort to link cow care with women’s empowerment, self-employment and livelihood generation.
Patel said the cow is closely connected with rural life and played a role in supporting farmers and strengthening household economies.
He described the initiative as a way of helping women become "economically self-reliant" through livestock-based livelihoods.
"The objective of building a developed Gujarat alongside a developed India required bringing poor, deprived and tribal communities into the mainstream," he said.
Referring to the state government's work in tribal areas, Patel said facilities including education, healthcare, employment, housing, drinking water, irrigation, all-weather roads and round-the-clock electricity had been provided.
He also highlighted the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme, under which women in 14 tribal districts receive two milch animals along with livestock insurance, transportation and treatment assistance.
According to the Chief Minister, more than 1.85 lakh livestock have so far been provided to tribal women beneficiaries.
Patel also referred to the promotion of natural farming using indigenous cows and said: "The state government was providing financial assistance to farmers for maintaining indigenous cattle."
The Sitavan Gir Gaushala, operated by Daskroi MLA Babu Patel and his family, is involved in cow protection, conservation and service activities. Vaibhavbhai Patel plays a role in coordinating and managing its service activities.
The initiative's stated objective extends beyond donating cows, with beneficiaries also receiving assistance related to cattle care and livestock management.
